Need Advice Regarding Replacing My 2010 Nissan Titan
#1
Hello everyone.

First of all, I hope I've posted this in the correct section. Forgive me If I haven't. I'm ok with it being moved to its correct forum section if need be.

Anyways, I own a 2010 Nissan Titan. This car has been great to me since I purchased it used from a buddy just over a year ago. It's fulfilled its job quite well, while sparing me any headache. However, just yesterday my car overheated on me. When I got home I inspected its radiator and found that this part was to blame. It showed signs of leakage and a majority of the fins were severely bent. I know that replacement is my only option at this point, but before I do so, I'd like some advice. I've decided to purchase an aftermarket version online, but don't know which companies are reputable. I've found two that I particularly like but before I buy from one of them, I'd like some sort of verification that they are a legitimate business. I almost never buy anything online so I don't know how to spot a scam, and I can't afford to be scammed.

Has anyone dealt with either of the following companies and can verify that they are a legitimate company? The parts on each site match the OEM number of the part I need.. Thanks in advance.

Don't know about either company but the first one looks legit to me. Koyo is one that a lot of people go to when they switch out because it's all aluminum. How did all the fins get bent - did you/he hit something?

Definitely don't go back to a OEM Nissan radiator as they have proven to be unreliable and prone to splitting. The radiator I purchased was the Stillen all-aluminum radiator that was manufactured by CSF, CSF Model 3328, that was for a time only available from Stillen. In the past year the model 3328 has been widely available from any number of aftermarket retailers.

The CSF Model 3328 all-aluminum radiator could be purchased for well under $300 earlier this year when it first became widely available but more recently the price has risen. Currently the Stillen price for the all-aluminun radiator is on-par with other online retailers Stillen Website

The CSF3328/Stillen radiator has recently changed somewhat in appearance from a scalloped top to a smooth top. As you search around you on different forums you will see the differences but functionally there is no difference between the two.

I highly recommend the all-aluminum radiator over the composite plastic/aluminum core radiator.

Here is a link that shows my installed all-aluminum radiator that I purchased from Stillen but arrived in a box with CSF3329 printed all over http://www.titanspot...ndpost&p=161127

Everything seems to be good on mine still at this point at 83k. I wonder what makes the difference, seeing how yours was so low miles? My other Titan (75k) also an 04 never had any problems either...

JD, I was not having any problems with my OEM radiator but I knew that, given the track record of the Titan OEM radiators, that it was not a case of "if" but "when" the radiator fails. I replaced my Titan radiator as a preemptive measure with one that I expect will give a much longer, more serviceable lifetime. Except for a couple of all-aluminum radiators that were leaky from the start, I haven't heard of any that have needed replacement. Some Titan owners have reported replacing the OEM radiators as high as 3 times on the same truck.

My daughter and son-in-law have a Infiniti QX56 that has the same engine and radiator as the Titan. They were vacationing in Florida when their plastic radiator split. It cost them over $1,200 to replace their radiator at the dealer. Given the track record of this radiator, it is likely to happen again. The reason I replaced a still-functioning POS Titan radiator was to avoid a similar scenario.

Yikes!

Did you keep the old, non-failed one in the garage as a backup?

Heck no, I put that POS in the box that the new radiator came in and put it out at the street on garbage pickup day to be taken to the dump! In retrospect I should have taken the old radiator to a recycle center to recover the plastic and aluminum components.

Keeper, offer to give the old radiator ti JD the next time you two meet for lunch. I sensed from his post that he might want to have a backup radiator in case his radiator splits. <img src='http://www.titanspot.com/Titan/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/002.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';-)' />
