Overhead Racks
#1
I was thinking of buying the overhead rack set..and using one of them close to the cab, to make a lightbar..I see in the package, one rack comes with a built in 3rd tail light, which will be the one I'd use I'm sure, and mount some hella oval angel eye driving lights ontop of it for a sleek, fuctional profile.

Yay or Nay?

I had mine on like that for a little while. I kinda got tired of looking at it. It didn't look as good as I thought it would. I was gonna mount lights, but decided against it and just took it off. Too bad your in Colorado, cuz if I trade the truck, they aren't getting the OEM accessories and I'd sell them to ya cheap. <img src='http://www.titanspot.com/Titan/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/002.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Cheers' />

Cool. If I trade the truck you can have first dibs on the racks then. Hopefully shipping won't be too bad. I'm pretty sure they came apart to ship easier.

Hey, that reminds me.... weren't you gonna buy something else I had??? I don't even remember what it was??? lol

If it doesn't sell on Ebay, we will most likely work something out on a trade in. But I should know within the next week or so for sure.

I'm super excited to try this idea!! I've been planning it. Now reason for this bar is to have added lights durring offroad adventures or whenever needed!

The idea is to add two oval driving lights. I picked the Hella oval angel eye driving lights (pictures go in order of items listed) which wil be placed on the corners of the ladder rack. In the center, I hope to install this remote swivle/tilt with two remotes, one wireless, one wired in cab, spotlight. These lights are found more and more on patrol cars to replace the spot light located between the door jam of the crown vic. Its all electronic, so you can move the light around anywhere you need to without getting out of the truck. Then I was thinking on the bottom side of the rack, or along the inner sides of the rack, install these slim black lil fog lights also by Hella to light up the bed incase theres any cargo of any such in the back, or extra light is needed in the bed, or around the bed.

Now my thoughts are the rack is to be movable whenever not needed. I really dont want to drive around all the time with this thing on, if I'm only offroading twice or so a month. So how do you get power to the four driving lights, plus the 12 volt spot light? I was thinking running all the wires down the inner side of the rack with a plug like you'd find for a lamp or any electronic in your house. Now because the spot light has its own on/off built into the light itself, you can have power going to it. So with a electrical outlet like you'd find in your house on your walls a foot off the ground, with the same setup built into the bed, just PLUG AND PLAY! top plug for the driving light/spot light, and the second plug for the driving lights aimed into the bed. The two outlets are wired to their own two switches inside the cab (unknown where mounted). This way power can still get to the lights, but when uneeded for the rack, just unplug!! simple yeah??

I found the rack system on ebay for $99 for the set, but QW said he will sell me his if he trades his truck in, so lets hope soon I get a rack from somewhere!!

I would think a trailer jack may be a better option for your power needs, this way it is truly Titan worthy.
